A slow drain is one of those annoyances you learn to live with until you cannot anymore. The kitchen sink takes twice as long to empty. The shower backs up around your ankles. The bathroom sink gurgles. Then one morning a drain stops completely, and suddenly it is the only thing you can think about. Since May of 1984, Parrett Plumbing has cleared slow and stopped drains for Fort Walton Beach homes and small businesses, figuring out what is blocking the line and getting the water moving again.
Drains clog for a handful of familiar reasons. Grease and food bits build up in a kitchen sink line over the years. Hair and soap collect in a bathroom trap. A tub or shower drain slows to a crawl. Sometimes the trouble is farther down a branch line or out at the main cleanout, where roots, grease, or debris have narrowed the path. Wherever the blockage is, the goal is the same: find it, clear it, and restore free flow without just pushing the problem deeper into the pipe. Every job is handled personally by the owner, start to finish, so the drain gets properly cleared instead of temporarily cleared.

How a Visit Works
Call or request
Call (850) 243-9511 with which drains are slow or backed up and your town. You reach the plumber who will come out and clear them.
Locate the blockage
Your plumber checks whether the clog is in a single fixture trap, a branch line, or the main line, so the clearing is done at the right spot instead of just at the surface.
Cleared and flowing
The drain is cleared and the water is run to confirm it flows freely, so you can see the slow drain is gone before your plumber leaves.

Drain Cleaning Questions Answered
Can I just pour a chemical drain cleaner down a slow sink?
You can, but repeated chemical cleaners often do not reach the real blockage and can corrode older pipes and trap seals. If a drain is slow or backed up more than once, the clog is usually deeper than the trap and an on-site clearing does the job more thoroughly.
Why do several of my drains back up at the same time?
When more than one fixture is slow or backed up together, the blockage is usually in a shared branch line or the main drain rather than a single trap. That kind of clog has to be cleared at the right section of pipe, often through a cleanout, instead of at one sink.
My shower drains slowly and pools at my feet. What causes that?
Hair and soap scum collect in the shower drain over time and narrow the opening until water cannot keep up. The buildup is cleared so water flows freely again, and you are told what to watch for so it does not return as quickly.
There is a sour smell from a drain I rarely use. Is that a clog?
Often it is a dry trap. Drains that are not used regularly can lose their water seal, and sewer odor travels back up. Running a little water usually refills the trap. If the smell continues, the drain is checked to rule out a deeper blockage.
Do you clear drains in rental and vacation properties too?
Yes. High guest turnover means drains in Emerald Coast rentals see heavy use and clog more often. Describe the property and the town when you call so the clearing can be scheduled between stays when possible.
When can you come out to clear my drain?
Drain cleaning is scheduled Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Saturday and Sunday are closed. Call during business hours with your town and the fixtures that are affected, and the drain is cleared during regular hours.
